How do those portable satellite radio players sound in the car?
I’m looking into buying a portable Sirrius satellite radio player, the kind that lets you transmit the signal to your radio (e.g. the radio in your car) using an FM modulator. Is there anybody in the San Francisco Bay Area using one of these? If so, do you have any problem with the sound quality? I tried an iPod car adaptor a few years ago that used one of those FM modulator and it didn;t work for me because local radio stations would cut in. I don’t want to install the player in the car because I also want to use it in the house, when I travel, etc.
Regarding the FM tuning, I’m OK with flipping around to different channels to find one that works. If I’m within the San Francisco city limits, I want to set the channel once and then not worry about it again.
Same kinda problems when using the FM transmitter with an XM. I have one and when I go into a city we have to leap frog across numerous stations until we find one that isnt being used. There are car stereos though that have XM built in, and thier not too expensive. Thats what in going to do for my next radio i buy.
